The Department of Sahitya imparts knowledge in traditional and modern subject of Sahitya. In addition to this research work is carried out under the supervision of the faculty members of the Department. It lays stress on the teaching of cultural values and heritage of India through subjects like Natyashastra Ramayanam Rasgangadharah etc. It offers Shastri (B.A.), Acharya (M.A.), Ph.D., M.Phil and certificate course (6 month course Sanskrit).
This Department was established on 2005. Many students of this department are holding different posts in reputed institutions of the country in administration, Education and defense sector. At present there are two Associate Professors and three Assistant Professors.
The department concentrates on teaching and research. Many students from the department have been awarded Ph.D. degree (Vidyavaridhi) and many students have qualified the NET/JRF/SLET Examinations.
